Sustainability Report 2020
The University of Hong Kong
The health, social and economic development of the world have been wreaking havoc by the COVID-19 outbreak since late 2019. There have been 104,370,550 worldwide confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2,271,180 deaths as of February 2021. According to the January 2021 Global Economic Prospects published by the World Bank Group, COVID-19 caused a global recession whose depth was surpassed only by the two World Wars and the Great Depression over the past century and a half.
The pandemic has highlighted the importance of having a long-term strategy to build more equitable, sustainable, and resilient societies. As a globally influential university, the University of Hong Kong is committed to driving sustainability by strengthening our commitment and effort in promoting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
